Dr. Marissa Chesney has been an Internal Medicine physician for almost two years at Willis-Knighton Bossier Internal Medicine Diagnostic and Treatment Clinic.

She first realized she wanted to become a doctor when she was an EMT. Dr. Chesney learned through her experience in that role that she had a way with patients.

After completing a residency at LSU Health, she decided to stay in Shreveport-Bossier City and begin her life as a doctor in this community.

“I like to work with patients, present options, and discuss what is the best course of action. That approach does not work with everyone, but I think that the ones that it does work for appreciate being part of their decision making.”

Chesney is most interested in transitional care, which is transitioning from adolescent patients with complex diseases to the adult practice of Internal Medicine.

As a doctor, she does her best to prescribe treatment options that work best for the patient. She takes into consideration the patient’s lifestyle and social activities.
