Dr. Leslie J. Sewell said her perspective changed as a physician when she became a cancer survivor herself and lost her mother to breast cancer.

Sewell, of Red River Internal Medicine, is board certified and a member of the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, Louisiana State Medical Society and Bossier Parish Medical Society. Sewell has been a Willis-Knighton doctor since 1999 and said her biggest accomplishment being a devoted single mother, while maintaining a busy medical practice.

Being in internal medicine, Sewell said she is interested in diabetes and treating senior patients.

“I have special interests in diabetes care as I have a son with juvenile diabetes,” she said. “I also particularly love [working with] the elderly population.”

Sewell said she loves serving her hometown and strives to maintain a strong relationship with her patients. “I feel it is based mostly on mutual honor and respect of each other,” she said. “I genuinely love caring for my patients and establishing relationships with them and providing quality medical care.”

Sewell said she looks at her practice as her ministry field and tries to treat the whole patient, “whether physically, emotionally or spiritually,” she said.
