Adam Harbuck, owner of Harbuck Outdoor Sports, is one local businessman who loves his job. “I really enjoy introducing new people to the sport of kayak fishing,” said Harbuck.

Harbuck Outdoor Sports offers top of the line fishing kayaks, accessories, rigging, and installation. They’re unique in that they provide personal service and expertise, from someone who has experienced it firsthand and knows both sides of the business—from behind the desk, to in the boat.

“I fish out of a kayak every week and know the excitement and challenges of fishing,” said Harbuck.

Harbuck hopes to see his already successful business grow over the next five years—as well as within the community in general. “I want the paddling community and sport of kayak fishing to grow locally,” said Harbuck.

For Harbuck, opening a sporting goods store in Shreveport and specializing in fishing was in his blood. “My grandfather owned Harbuck Sporting Goods in the 1950s and 1960s in downtown Shreveport, as well as being the best fisherman I ever knew,” said Harbuck. “It means the world to me to bring that tradition back to town.”

Harbuck has strong advice for anyone looking to start the business of their dreams. “Don’t wait,” said Harbuck. “It’s your dream and it’s up to you to make it happen.”
