The Center for Women’s Health and Wellness

Dr. Mary Taylor of The Center for Women’s Health and Wellness in Shreveport is a board certifi ed OB/GYN who is lucky enough to enjoy what she does. “I like to have an informal relationship with my patients. From the time they walk into my office until the time they leave, I want them to feel totally comfortable,” she said. “I listen to my patients and together we decide the best course of treatment for them. The most enjoyable part of my job is the rapport I have with my patients.”

A graduate of the LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport, Dr. Taylor found it easy to make the Shreveport- Bossier City area her home. “I developed ties to the community during those 8 years. I also developed relationships with my peers here and it was an easy transition into private practice.”

Dr. Taylor has a specific focus for her practice. “I have an interest in menopausal medicine and I no longer deliver babies. I have more time to devote to treatment of the issues that come after completing childbearing,” she said. Technology has helped her make the challenges that come along with surgery easier on the patient. “With minimally invasive surgical techniques, we are able to get ladies back to their normal activities much more quickly than the older techniques. Also, there is less pain with the minimally invasive procedures,” she said.

When asked what the most rewarding part of her job is, Dr. Taylor didn’t hesitate. “I absolutely think it is the relationships that I have been able to build with my patients over the years. I have been in private practice for almost 21 years. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to follow my patients through all aspects of their lives.”
