RaSheeda Williams enjoys her relatively new position as the manager for the Libbey Glass Outlet Store in Shreveport. “I love my job! My favorite part of the job is the customers,” said Williams. “(They) come in and see all the things you can do with glass - you can do anything with it! We all think you just eat out of it, but you can take a plate and make it into a decoration - you can make anything a decoration. It’s just awesome being involved with party planning, bridal shower planning - it’s so fun.”
Williams started as store manager in October bringing over 20 years of retail management experience, including having previously worked for Wal-Mart as Operations Manager for over 14 years. In her new role as store manager for the Libbey Outlet, she oversees daily operations, orders inventory and handles the associates of the store.
In addition to her duties as store manager, Williams is a single mom of three boys - Ty,16, attends Southwood, Kalill, 11, goes to Ridgewood, and Christian is 7 and attends Summer Grove Elementary. “Christian is special needs, so every day is always something different. They keep me going, and they’re enjoying the fact that I’m actually able to be home with them now, since working at Wal-Mart was so demanding so I wasn’t able to be where I needed to be for them,” said Williams. In addition to her boys, she also has a relationship that keeps her going. “I do have a great special friend that’s been in my life for about 3 years now, and he’s been a great support for everything I do.”
In her spare time, Williams attends Word of Deliverance Family Life Church with Bishop Tommy Nard and Pastor Kim. “I’m definitely faithful and religious in every aspect of my life,” she said. “One of my favorite things is just walking - I love to take walks and I love talking to people. I love to speak - my favorite saying is YOLO - you only live once. That’s the theme of my life.”
Williams encourages locals to visit the Libbey Outlet Store. “There’s a Memorial Day weekend sale Friday through Monday with the sale moving outside on Monday. The store is open 7 days a week, and we offer discounts for seniors, military, and teachers for the local and surrounding areas,” she explained. “The store has a different look and feel - it’s all about the glass!”
