Kimberly and Alexandra Harris are the stylish mother/daughter duo behind the fashion boutique LBD By Design. These women have been recognized for their fearless take on fashion and community involvement.
Is it hard being in the fashion business together?
Kimberly: As far as the fashion end of the business, we feed off each others energy and ideas, but because we are both leaders and have strong opinions, there are moments when we disagree, but at the end of the day, we always come together.
Do y’all have a similar style? If so, have you ever worn the same outfit?
Alexandra: It’s uncanny how similar our likes and dislikes are, and it shows in our daily outfits choices.
Kimberly: Very often we will show up at work wearing pretty much the same thing.
Do you take style inspiration from each other?
Kimberly: I am definitely inspired by Alex’s style. She always has a fresh take on the latest trends, and I tend to borrow some of her ideas and incorporate that into to mine. She has an eye for detail that is genius. I am the cake, and she is the icing.
Who are your style icons?
Kimberly: Our style and fashion creativity is inspired by fashion throughout the ages as well as current trends.
Alexandra: My mom is my fashion icon. As a little girl, I watched how she put outfits together and how she carried herself in such a classy, sophisticated manner. All I wanted was to be just like her.
What’s your favorite summer fashion trend?
Kimberly: My fashion trend to date would have to be hands down the throw back to the ’70s. I grew up watching ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and those chicks were always on point from head to toe.
Alexandra: My favorite summer trend is the boho look. It’s fun, flirty and sexy. Everything a girl looks for in an outfit.
Is there a favorite color scheme or look you love on one another?
Kimberly: Neutrals are colors we both love to wear especially monochromatic looks, but I love seeing her in cream.
Alexandra: Mom looks amazing in white. My little slice of heaven!
Do you have a style secret?
Kimberly and Alexandra: Be confident in who you are. Be willing to take a risk and be yourself!
