AUDIBEL HEARING AIDS

701 Jordan Street, Suite D Shreveport, LA (318) 425-5417 audibelofshreveport.com

Audibel Hearing Aids strives to provide professional and quality service.

They offer hearing tests, hearing aids, hearing aid repairs, custom products for the ear, including stage monitors, ear plugs, hunter’s ears, ear buds, floatable swim plugs and many other products that pertain to hearing and hearing protection.

Joe Skelton, Sales for Audibel Hearing Aids, is one local businessman who loves his job.

“My favorite part of my job is fitting a first time hearing aid user with hearing aids, and seeing the look of pure joy from them and their loved ones,” said Skelton. “Most people just don’t realize how many sounds they have been missing out on until they put on a pair of hearing aids. It can be very emotional.”

Having joined Audibel in 2013 after fifteen years in the construction industry, Skelton had a few things to learn about office life. “Audibel has sent me to numerous training courses at their home office in Minnesota, where I received hands on training,” said Skelton.

He also enjoyed getting to train under his father-in-law, Sammy, who is the owner of Audibel. “Shadowing my father-in-law has been a great asset,” said Skelton. “Not only does Sammy own the business and has worked it for thirty years, he himself is a hearing aid user.” It’s a family environment, as Skelton also works with his wife.

Skelton was first inspired toward Audibel and that particular line of work because of his family. “My wife has worked in her dad’s office her entire life,” said Skelton. “I was ready for a change of pace. My wife and her father persuaded me to try my hand in the hearing aid industry.”

Skelton’s career took off from there.

“I become proficient in repairing the aids and then started toward a path of becoming a hearing aid specialist.” Now he gets to enjoy more time with his family in his new career journey.

Being a successful businessman means finding a balance in all priorities of life—and that it’s not always easy. “Being a family owned business and working with my wife and father-in-law means we must strive to leave business at the office and not bring it home,” said Skelton. “It can be a challenge at times, but we all agree that work stays at the office.”

Audibel Hearing Aids offers free hearing appointments that involve a comprehensive hearing evaluation, as well as an expert consultation to discuss the results. After the free appointment, further services are offered to accommodate each individual need.

Over the next several years, Skelton hopes to see an advancement of technology in the industry. “I’m anxious to see the next generations of hearing technology,” said Skelton. “They’re becoming more of a tech gadget to some than a hearing aid. It’s very interesting to see the breakthroughs in the field of hearing.”

Skelton also has goals and dreams for the local business itself. “I hope to see the office grow, as well, and be able to deliver the gift of hearing to many more people in the area.”

Skelton’s advice to the up and coming generation of businessmen is to work hard to find success. “Work, get your hands dirty, and try new things,” said Skelton. “Get out of your comfort zone!” Audibel Hearing Aids is truly a unique company, with a heart for helping others. “We’re a family-owned and operated company since 1979,” said Skelton. “We treat each patient as if they were a part of us. Let our family bring the gift of hearing to yours.”
