MERSATECH MOBILE APS. MERCHANT SERVICES

Mario C. Chavez, owner of MersaTech, is a local businessman who has learned the secrets to success— commitment, humility and integrity. “I’m both the trash man and the CEO, depending on the day and what needs to be done,” said Chavez.

MersaTech facilitates the transfer of electronic funds in any medium a business needs, and creates custom plans for each customer. “We deploy multiple devices with connectivity options, whether it be a stand-alone credit card terminal operating over a single phone line, or an IP connection to a terminal that will run off cellular phone towers and go anywhere in the world,” said Chavez. “We always make sure we get the best fit for the client.”

Chavez especially enjoys his job because of the opportunity to help customers, who tend to become friends. “It’s so much more than a business relationship when I get invited to weddings and fishing trips and cultivate real relationships,” said Chavez. “At the end of the day, that’s something money can’t buy.”

MersaTech sets up various types of software to handle billing options and Quick Books integration. They also handle electronic checks, gift and loyalty cards, and can even install an ATM if a client desires.

Chavez, who was recently elected as The Caddo Parish Commissioner for District 10, thrives on going over and above. “We live in a fast paced world, where we need immediate results,” said Chavez. “Payment systems are the driving engine of any business and if your system is down, you can’t function. We are the only local merchant service provider in Shreveport and Bossier City that has technicians who will dispatch 24/7.”

Even if a call comes in a 2 a.m., someone from Mersatech will be there to help. “We have a 24/7 phone technical support line like everyone else, but I’d rather not be like everyone else. I will go the extra mile,” said Chavez.

Chavez always loved technology, so choosing a career path wasn’t difficult. “I learned how to set up satellite and GPS tracking systems in the military,” said Chavez, who also worked as a support technician and a salesman for cell phones. “I came across the opportunity to start selling merchant services and decided I was going to dive in. It didn’t take long to realize all my previous training set me up for success. God always knows exactly what’s He’s doing—even if we don’t!” Chavez remembers to keep the customer’s best interest first, and that’s why he’s seen such success over the past decade. “At the end of the day, you can always find someone that can sell you something at a cheaper price,” said Chavez. “The thing that matters the most in our business is that you’re there when the client needs you, and that you make things right.”
