DSU Quarterly Lunch: Downtown Shreveport Unlimited hosted their quarterly lunch July 24 at the Petroleum Club in downtown Shreveport. The guest speaker was Dr. William Lunn, CHRISTUS Health Shreveport-Bossier’s chief operating offi cer. Lunn spoke on the upcoming changes that will happen at Schumpert Hospital as well as at Highland Hospital. There was also an engaging question-and-answer time at the conclusion of his presentation. Midway to Mardi Gras: The Krewe of Centaur, the region’s largest Mardi Gras krewe, celebrated the halfway point to Carnival season, with their royalty coronation party Aug. 10 at Shreveport’s RiverView Hall. Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate the reveal of this year’s royal court. There were also dozens of auction items available including LSU memorabilia and a wheelbarrow full of 31 bottles of wine. The royalty will be formally presented at Centaur’s Grand Ball on Feb. 8.
Chianti’s: Chianti’s Restaurant on Live Avenue hosted an Italian Wine Dinner on Aug. 14. The menu consisted of four courses, including roasted duck, lamb medallions, stuffed zucchini, all paired with fi ve different wines. Some of the wines featured at the sold-out event were a 2010 Caldora, a 2011 Vesevo and a 2008 San Leonino. To attend the next special wine event, call 868-8866.
