Guests enjoy culinary experience for nonprofit

A true local feast benefitted Shreveport Green. It was held June 11 at Greenleaf Park in the Provenance neighborhood. The mission of the event was to re-connect people to the land and the origins of food and to honor local farmers and artisans who cultivate and prepare it. Appetizers included fried okra and remoulade and grilled peaches. Watermelon soup and pork panzanella with sunflower and herb smoked shallot vinaigrettes salad were served before the entrée, which was crispy Louisiana catfish green bean salad and herbs and cast-ironed Mahaffey chicken over creamed corn. Desserts included blackberry cheesecake and candied pecans. Jason Brady of Wine Country served as chef, and eight area farmers assisted.
