Active Recovery

Terri Schaffner, a Licensed Addiction Counselor, spent much of her life developing those “life lessons” that she draws from in her teaching and counseling style. After she made the decision to live a healthier lifestyle, she began to work towards turning her situation around, eventually developing Active Recovery, LLC, in 2012. This is not a 12-Step program, so her clients are allowed to feel positive growth in projecting gratitude and mindfulness in a Spiritual program. She gleaned the best team of staff members possible, and together they create a feeling of warmth and acceptance towards the healing recovery of their clients.

Active Recovery is an Intensive Outpatient program designed in three phases over a year’s timeframe. Parenting Classes, Anger Management and other specialized groups are available, and most insurance is accepted, including Medicaid and Bayou Health. There is an Adolescent After-School program as well, with transportation from schools provided. Her team consists of Angie Owen, Tara Woods, and Laura Kirkland. She has several contracted counselors and counselor interns as well, to provide a well-rounded team of professionals. Terri is purchasing their new facility, located at 3821 Southern Avenue in Shreveport, and is excited to see much growth and recovery.
