Editor’s Note
Besides the stories, Glamour magazine also tagged this recipe as the “100 recipes every woman should know.” Either way, I figured I should get to know this chicken and try to tackle the recipe. For the next few weeks, I scoured the grocery stores looking for a chicken that would be easy to manage for my first try at cooking a whole chicken.

Growing by the wheels
Although the newer bike I had at the time was a cruiser I had won off of a glitch contest with Sweet Leaf Tea, oddly enough, it wasn’t in the best of shape. So, instead of spending money on a new one, I brought my mom’s bike, a road bike purchased in 1983 in Ruston, to River City Cycling to have it refurbished.

Thank goodness for guinness
My nickname for the last gazillion years has been Big Red (6 feet tall plus red hair). I may or may not have gone to Deadwood, S.D., once with my cousin and spent an entire night talking in an Irish accent, convincing everyone I was visiting from County Cork in Ireland.

First, take a brief look at how the war played out. War broke out over disagreements in Europe about territory and boundaries, among other issues. My usual haunts did not let me down. I found the key central piece: a distressed Union Jack coffee table created by Vanicka Newell, owner of King’s Antique Mall. But, I knew the room needed additional impact – something that would make it stand apart from any other bonus room, which is where the photo wall mural came in.

Personal service
Laughingly, I won’t say how many years because then I would hear you all mentally adding up the numbers. Now a restaurant serving a delicious lunch with excellent service could inspire an article, but when they serve 30 guests with the same ease as a table for two it is definitely noteworthy.

Of course that was before the Internet, Facebook and Snapchat completely changed social networks from homegrown to world known. But, for one local couple, they actually did know each other before they were 16. Christy Canady and Taunton Melville first met as young schoolmates.

Although not too long ago it was a necessity, many cultures still prefer eating in season, choosing the freshest ingredients at their peak of vibrancy and eschewing methods for growing that make some fruit and vegetables available throughout the year.

Springtime Selections
Spread about 1/4 cup of the stuffing down the center of each chicken breast. Fold over one side of chicken breast, and then roll one long side other side. Tie bacon strips gently around each end and the middle of the rolled chicken breast. Place the egg and butter milk in a shallow bowl and mix well.

Signature Style Show
Weddings with Style International Magazine held its annual style show Jan. 25 at the Bossier Civic Center. The show featured plenty of ideas for brides and grooms for weddings. Guests were also able to enter in a drawing to win a free honeymoon vacation.

The Krewe of Gemini hosted their XXVI grand bal on Jan. 31 at the Shreveport Convention Center in downtown Shreveport. The evening included the royaly tableau where there captain, king, queen, dukes and duchesses were presented as well as past royalty from previous years.

To The Soul
During this summer in Grand Isle, things change for Edna. The sea has an intoxicating effect on her. It seduces her. It invites contemplation. The change is gradual, but slowly Edna begins to ignore stifling societal expectations and starts to do as she pleases.
