A favorite during the holidays in Springfield, the Dana-Thomas House opens its doors for evening candlelight and luminaria tours on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 21, 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. Workers tell us there are new decorations. Volunteers from the Springfield Civic Garden Club designed vase arrangements for the historic site using more than 20 prairie plants such as magnolia, sumac and curly willow. These are on sale through the Sumac Shop where you can also find unique and charming gifts for folks on your Christmas list. Operated by the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, the 110-year-old Frank Lloyd Wright house at Fourth and Lawrence is open for regular tours Wednesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last tour at 3:45), except for on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Parking is free and located just west of the Y building on Cook Street. Visit dana-thomas.org for more info. See also
