Cindy and her daughter, Alex, had to escape a domestic violence situation. Having nowhere to go and no one to turn to, they were homeless and hungry.

The mother and daughter received help from Project Celebration, who provide counseling, residential and nonresidential services for domestic violence victims. The staff was there to help them both every step of the way to get their lives back.

Alex had been acting out at school due to the situation. Through the program, she began attending the same program as Susan at Plant a Seed in Our Youth Foundation. She learned better coping skills, and her grades improved as well.

Cindy attended job training at Goodwill and parenting classes at Catholic Charities. She is a full-time receptionist for a mortgage company. Both Cindy and Alex graduated from the program and moved into their own place. Cindy is making new friends, and Alex has a mentor.
