Eleven-year old Susan was struggling in school. She lives with her mom, Nicky, and two brothers, Randy and Evan. A single mom, Nicky works full-time to make ends meet. She cannot afford a tutor and has to work to provide for the family.

Susan began an after-school program each day with the Plant a Seed in Our Youth Foundation for homework help and tutoring. While there, she met others who struggled like her and had a one-parent home. In only three months, Susan had raised her grades by one letter grade. By the end of the year, Susan and her mom celebrated her report card with all A’s and B’s, and she made the honor roll.

Susan will go on to high school and accept an academic scholarship to college. She wants to be a brain surgeon.
