 Chianti: Chianti’s Restaurant hosted its spring Italian wine tasting event March 27. The event featured more than a dozen wines paired with savory cheeses, garlic breads, fruit and other tasty appetizers. The next wine event Chianti’s will host will be in August. Komen Northwest Louisiana affi liate offi ce hosted its annual grants awards luncheon April 2 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Shreveport. Grants were awarded to four local community partners: Martin Luther King Health Center, Partners in Wellness- LSUHSC-S, St. Luke’s Episcopal Mobile Medical Ministry and Christus Coushatta Health Care Center. The local offi ce also hosted an open house April 11 at its new location on Fairfi eld Avenue. Upcoming events include the Breast Cancer Survivors Luncheon on July 20, Friday in Pink event August 16 and the Race for the Cure on Nov. 2. Tiger Tour: Shreveport-Bossier City was the fi rst stop of 10 in this year’s LSU Tiger Tour. The event was held April 22 at the Horseshoe Riverdome. Coach Les Miles spoke as did the men’s and women’s basketball coaches. School: The Culture Awards were held April 23 in Baton Rouge. Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, along with Executive Director of the George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts Jacques Rodrigue recognized the seven schools accepted into the Louisiana A+ Schools network, the fi rst research-based whole school network in the state with a mission of nurturing creativity in every learner through an arts-integrated school network. South Highlands Magnet School was among the A+ recipients.
