Cinco: Ole’! The 16th annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta on May 4 in Festival Plaza included a slew of events. They included the Chihuahua Challenge, live entertainment, mariachis, contests, family activities, a health fair and plenty of food. The 12-hour fi esta was crammed full of events for the whole family.
Dog Park: The cleverly named “Stinko” de Mayo Dog Wash and Fiesta was held May 5 at Marilynn’s Place. Dog owners could have their pets washed or nails trimmed for $10. Live music was provided by A Fine Romance. All money raised will be used for legal expenses for the lawsuit against the mayor regarding the dog park.
Strand: The Strand Theatre announced the 29th season line-up of shows with a reception on May 7. A video with selections from each of the 16 shows booked for the 2013-2014 season was shown. Attendees then were invited to the stage for refreshments. Shows include “Ring of Fire,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Memphis,” “Hello Dolly, West Side Story” and the “Shoji Tabuchi Christmas Show.”
Price is Right: For the fi rst time in more than six years, “The Price is Right LIVE” stage show returned to Shreveport- Bossier City. Horseshoe Casino and Hotel’s Riverdome played host to two sold out shows May 18. Just like the show on TV, contestants’ were invited to “Come On Down” to contestants’ row, and then on stage to play famous games like Cliffhangars, Punch-A- Bunch and Plinko. The Big Wheel was also part of the experience for some contestants, and of course, the show ended with the showcase that featured a 50-inch TV, trip to Hollywood to see a taping of “The Price Is Right” and a new car.
