Roper Electric

For Jennifer Roper, the family business comes naturally. Although officially she has been with Roper Electric since 1997, she worked for her father every summer since middle school. She says “I started off helping my father wire houses. In 1997, I began working in the office. Bookkeeping, scheduling service work, learning how to estimate jobs, contract law, etc. Now, I handle all contracts, accounts receivable and scheduling”. Roper Electric is still a family business – Roper’s brother, Jake, is the estimator and her sisterin-law, Mattie handles accounts payable and human resources. With 16 employees, this business keeps busy, doing commercial, residential and industrial work. Currently in the process of the Sam’s remodel, they’ve wired over 20 Walgreens, numerous McDonald’s restaurants and Starbucks shops, car washes, banks, strip malls, hotels and gas stations. They also install generator systems, and they offer custom residential remodels and commercial work. As Roper says, “ You name it, we’ve done it!” Roper feels that their secret to success is the good crew she has, saying “I love that we’re a small business. It’s like a little family. I personally know all of our employees very well. The majority of our employees have been here a long time and I like that it’s a tight-knit group; I can trust and rely on our employees.” With over 90% of their business done with repeat customers, Roper Electric’s reputation reflects their dedicated values.

Roper enjoys being her own boss, saying “ You’re only limited by your own motivation and ambition.” With the company holding the same attitude, it seems the sky is the limit for this family business.
