SIU Medical School residents and students will participate in the seventh annual Emergency Medical Services Day.

Weather permitting, a helicopter crew will land and simulate a fl ight, discussing the specifi cs and challenges of aeromedical transport. Learners will use the “Jaws of Life” and other hydraulic tools to break down a car and practice survivor extraction. The annual event is designed to expose learners to some of the unique situations and diffi culties that EMS providers can encounter. Faculty will also speak on related topics. The event will take place on Thursday, July 19, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Riverton Fire Department, 710 Riverton Road in Riverton.
