The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum will celebrate the 16th president’s birthday on Monday, Feb. 12, with free admission, a special showcase of rare artifacts, announcement of the winners of a statewide children’s art contest, music from dulcimer and banjo virtuoso Mike Anderson and appearances by historic interpreters portraying fi gures such as Mary Lincoln and a Civil War soldier. The library will also host a roundtable of historians from 2:30-4 p.m., including experts on Lincoln’s legal career, his family and his connections to African- Americans in Illinois and Washington. Also on Feb. 12, Lincoln Land Community College will present its 10th annual Lincoln lecture at 9 a.m. featuring ALPLM Lincoln Collection curator James M. Cornelius, who will speak on the subject of “Abraham Lincoln: nature boy or science drone?” Elsewhere that day, author Jan Jacobi will launch his new young adult historical novel Young Lincoln with a signing at the Lincoln Home visitor center book shop from 8 a.m. until noon.
