Edwards Place, home of the Springfi eld Art Association, is full of secrets and surprises. It’s the oldest house in Springfi eld still on its original foundation, and its walls hide an intricate story of the mansion’s evolution over time. Erika Holst, curator of collections at the Art Association, has spent hours crawling through the dark attic and the dank cellar to uncover the house’s fascinating secrets, and she’s leading “behind the scenes” tours of the house on April 16 to share what she has discovered. Visitors will get to see the intriguing clues that reveal the many stages of construction since 1833. Knowing the history of the house provides insight into the lives of the Edwards family and visitors like Abraham Lincoln. The tours start at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on April 16. Admission is $15. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at www.edwardsplace.org or by calling the Springfi eld Art Association at 523-2631.
