BAND SPOTLIGHT | Marina V

Always on the move and in the groove, Russian-born, singer-songwriter-keyboardist Marina V stops in town to perform her expressive, original songs. As a high-schooler in Moscow, she won a contest that landed her in Springfield and she ended up at Illinois College in Jacksonville. After graduation, she played locally until making a break for the music industry juggernaut in Los Angeles. From there, with her husband and musical collaborator Nick Baker, the talented pop music-maker scored tons of adventures and accolades. In the last year alone she made her first film, a documentary DVD of her 2014 national tour, received the Hollywood International Entertainment Award (a big deal) and played at the Grammy Museum (also a big deal). She performs May 15 at Illinois College and May 30 for the City of Jacksonville Downtown Celebration for bonus central Illinois dates. The summer of 2015 consists of a West Coast tour and preparation for another European run in the near future. As we said, she’s always on the move and in the groove.
