THEATER & COMEDY | Clown comedy

If you are a fan of “Whose Line is it Anyway?” or The Second City, you will not want to miss this weekend’s Portuguese Rodeo Clown Company performances. In this live, improvisational two-hour comedy show, five ragtag actors take the stage without a script, acting out scenes and scenarios at the suggestion of the audience. This long running group has performed more than 400 shows to date and was established in Detroit in 1994 by Mark C. Holden and Johnny Molson, who at the time were students of Detroit’s Second City. The duo was informed that the best way to learn improv is simply by doing improv, and thus the Portuguese Rodeo Clown Company was born. Hilariously, the name has absolutely nothing to do with the group’s message or mission. The Portuguese Rodeo Clown Company is: Mark C. Holden, Johnny Molson, Patrick Russell, Mary Kate Smith and Mary Young. Tickets for each show are $15 and available online at http://hcfta.org.
