Editor’s note An alderman took great offense at being accused of throwing wrenches in the works of good projects, but the truth is it’s much easier to fi nd reasons not to do things than to get things done. This is particularly true of TIF projects, which come to the council with the blessing of the city administration and funding available, often to be shut down by micromanaging aldermen wielding wrenches. It’s good that the city council charged the administration with fi nding another way to provide some funding for the downtown “Artifi cation” mural project [see IT May 16].
