Memorial weekend sees the return of the annual Wine and Music Festival at Hill Prairie Winery in Oakford.

Sunday, May 27 is Bluegrass Day with the music of Resonation Station and River Ramblers alternating two sets. May 28 is Country Day with Prairie Rose Band playing two hours, followed by Southern Cross. The featured entre is barbecue pork on the grill. Your admission price includes a winery wine glass. HPW is just a hop and skip over the prairie, 30 miles north of Springfield beyond Petersburg. The family-run business offers over 15 wines by the glass or bottle. To give you an idea of how good their wine is, they entered nine wines in the 2010 Illinois commercial wine competition and all nine were awarded medals.
