FESTIVAL | Colorful cavalcade

This is your day to come out and show your respect and support with other tolerant and loving folks at Springfield PrideFest, May 19, downtown Springfield. Organized by The Phoenix Center, the party takes place on Capitol Avenue between Fourth and Sixth. The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community celebration promises to make you laugh and feel the love. Highlights include a 6 p.m. show by nationally known comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer, St. Louis dance group AntiGravity at 3 p.m. and 7:40 p.m., Carla Sloan at 3:30 p.m., Ben Bedford at 12:15 p.m., and performances at 6:50 p.m. by the entertaining Springfield Drag Race winners. A children’s area is open until 7 p.m. Make sure to stop and share your personal story at the booth where they are working on a video project to show the gay community’s diversity and unity.
