       The Strand Theatre in downtown Shreveport hosted the Black Jacket Symphony featuring Michael Jackson's “Thriller” on March 18. The first half of the concert showcased songs from the “Thriller” album, while the second half of the show was a collection of Michael Jackson's greatest hits. The next show at The Strand is “Once: A New Musical” on April 13, and the final show of the 2016-2017 season is Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Cinderella” on June 11. The Bossier Arts Council hosted their annual martini-themed fund-raiser, Artini, at
601 Spring in downtown Shreveport on March 24. More than a dozen local
bars and restaurants were on hand serving custom martini cocktails in
competition for the best libation of the evening. Participants included
Flying Heart Brewery, Tejas Kitchen, Twisted Root and Remington Suite
Hotel. DJ Jim Jazereck provided entertainment, and special art pieces
were on display by street artist J. Ben Moss. Proceeds directly benefit
the Bossier Arts Council's programs. – Mark Crawford Those
attending the Shreveport Opera event on Feb. 16 at the Shreveport Club
enjoyed fine wine, exquisite cuisine and music from the principal
