DIGNITY MEMORIAL

(318) 686-4334 Shreveport (318) 949-9415 Haughton dignitymemorial.com

Funeral homes help families honor their loved ones. Three local businesses tailor services to remember and celebrate a life.

Everyone grieves and everyone remembers. Having the right kind of advice and assistance while working through the difficult process of both honoring and memorializing a loved one in a service that is especially meaningful to family and friends has been the goal of these area businesses for many years.

Centuries Memorial Funeral Home and Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport, along with Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home and Hill Crest Memorial Park in Haughton, serves area families as part of Dignity Memorial®, a 1,800-member Houston company that comprises the nation’s largest network of funeral, cremation and cemetery services.

Nationally, the company helps more than 300,000 families each year with thoughtful, personalized arrangements, cremation and interment.

Locally, Charles Gholson, Arthur Lang and George Rowell provide the direction and support that help grieving family and friends throughout the planning and execution of a service that can be as solemn and dignified or as celebratory and joyful as the family’s wishes dictate.

From the initial personal meeting through planning every aspect of the ceremony, these representatives work to carry out the wishes of the family and friends of the deceased.

Their experience and training, as well as the availability of a range of extensive resources on the Dignity Memorial® website, provide the guidance and support to plan every aspect related to the memorialization of a loved one, from proper funeral etiquette, to poetry and prose from many cultures, to the words and traditions of the world’s great religions.

They work to create meaningful ways to pay tribute to a loved one, both honoring and celebrating a life story.

Charles Gholson will serve as the President of the Community Development Coordinator for Dignity Memorial and assist A. W. “Kippy” Lang, GM of Hill Crest Funeral Home and Cemetery and Ricky Rowell, GM of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery with serving our community.

The thing Charles finds most rewarding in the funeral service is offering solutions and personal services to our client families at one of the worst times of their lives.

“Our industry has experienced a large increase in cremations and we have accommodated this trend by offering life celebrations with emphasis on how a person lived.” Charles stated, “I feel we need to meet with each family after the services are over to assist with questions and solutions involving, VA benefits, Social Security, and filing insurance claims.”

One of the most important things to Charles in his career has been the service he has given to the many families he has served and now are his friends.

George “Ricky” Rowell has been with Dignity Memorial for over two years and he has been a Funeral Director over 20 years. George is the General Manager of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport. George enjoys helping others.

A. W. “Kippy” Lang has been in the community for over a month as the new General Manager of Hill Crest. He has recently moved to the Shreveport/ Bossier market from Mississippi where he is a fifth generation Funeral Director. Kippy stated “he learned to walk in a funeral home” and has been in the business since he can remember.
