Blake at Bossier City expected to open in 2017

A new retirement community is heading to the Shreveport-Bossier City area. The Blake at Bossier City is expected to open in spring or summer of 2017.

Quality Senior Living, LLC and Blake Management Group are behind the project.

The retirement community will be located near Airline Drive.

“Bossier City had a real need for what we offer,” Glenn Barclay, chief operating officer for Blake Management, said.

The community will offer amenities such as fine dining, casual dining, a full-service bar and lounge, coffee shop, ice cream parlor, salon, chapel, putting greens, activity courts, theater, activity rooms, fire pavilion, business center, library, Internet cafe, fitness center and spa services. Transportation and on-site parking is also available.

Barclay is a native of Shreveport and is excited to bring the project to his hometown. “There’s a strong sense of family in Louisiana, and that’s our vision for senior housing,” Barclay said.

In addition to the lifestyle amenities, the Blake at Bossier City will offer healthcare services, too. Outpatient physical therapy and rehabilitation is offered onsite.

The Blake will offer three living options including independent living, assisted living and memory care residencies.

Independent living is designed for seniors who do not need assistance with daily life. Independent living includes weekly housekeeping and access to fitness and wellness services. An emergency response system allows residents to call for help 24 hours a day.

Assisted living is designed for seniors who need assistance with daily living, such as medication management, housekeeping, laundry, bathing, dressing, mobility and companion services. The Blake’s Customized Service Care Plan is designed to help residents and staff to designate where a resident needs assistance and where he or she does not need assistance. Nursing staff is available 24 hours a day to those in assisted living, as is the emergency response system.

“We keep our rates competitive for the area. They’re what you’d expect to see in Bossier City,” Barclay said. Monthly rates are expected to start at $2,500.

Blake Management has retirement communities throughout the South, including Flowood, Miss., Oxford, Miss.; Ridgeland, Miss., Lafeyette; Baton Rouge; Daphne, Ala. and Columbia, S.C.

Once the Blake is fully occupied, it will create 70 full- and part-time jobs. Arrive Architecture Group in Dallas is providing architectural design on the project.
