Hang Tough, Don’t Puff Support Group

Monday, June 22, 5 p.m. WK Health & Fitness Center, 2474 Greenwood Road Instructor: Jarrod Mitchell, MS, RCEP, Cardiac Rehabilitation Coordinator A tobacco cessation group and support program designed to help individuals stop tobacco use and dependence. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Tobacco users (smokers or dippers) looking for support and information in discontinuing tobacco use. Free. Registration required.

Shaking the Sodium from Your Diet and Living with CHF

An informative seminar that addresses the needs of those with chronic heart failure. WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Those who are experiencing heart failure, or signs and symptoms of chronic cardiopulmonary disease.

JOINT REPLACEMENT CAMP

Designed for those who are considering or who have scheduled total hip or total knee replacement surgery. The Willis- Knighton Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Institute offers participants insight into the joint replacement process, from preadmission planning to surgery, follow-up and rehabilitation.

Tuesdays, Noon 4th Floor Conference Room This support group is designed to help patients and their loved ones discuss the emotional challenges and other concerns often faced by patients with cancer.

Coping with…Cancer by Painting with a Twist

Wednesday, June 10, 10 a.m. 2nd Floor Conference Room This workshop is designed to provide painting instruction through Painting with a Twist with the idea for patients dealing with cancer to have fun. Patients paint for free (friends and family paint for $25 and must contact Painting with a Twist to enroll and pay).

Wednesday, June 24, Noon 2nd Floor Conference Room This educational workshop gives cancer patients and their loved ones information on cancer related issues that will be of value before, during and after cancer treatment. Patients and caretakers will also have the opportunity to discuss their concerns with knowledgeable healthcare professionals.

Tuesday, June 16, 3:30 p.m. Chapel at The Oaks Maredia Bowdon returns to The Oaks with a true story of youthful dreams set against the economic and climatic horrors of The Great Depression. Nine working class boys – sons of loggers, farmers and fishermen – became a rowing team that would go confidently into the 1936 Olympics and reign victorious over elite teams of the East Coast, Great Britain and finally the German team rowing for Adolf Hitler.
