Those values bestowed in me by my father - being different, set yourself apart, make yourself stand out - those are the things that make people want to come to you to build their houses. I could see James wanted that too. It seemed like a great opportunity and a bright future for the long run; everything pointed to being with Blue Heron was the right thing to do,” he said. “James has the same goals and outlook that I do, and from what I grew up around. He’s a great person, and it’s nice to have a boss you really like being around. You want to do well for them- work even harder.” When owner James Reneau began Blue Heron Homes, he made a decision to be a unique bastion in the construction business. “We wanted to be different - from a product standpoint there were certain things that we were going to use and weren’t going to use. We didn’t just want to build our homes to code. We wanted to go above and beyond, and that’s what we’ve done,” said Harmon. “In 4 years we’ve not only grown the Shreveport brand, but we have also expanded into Monroe and are now one of the more reputable builders in the Monroe area. We also were able to start our real estate company - Blue Heron Real Estate. Now we have not only a construction company that has expanded into two cities, but we also have a real estate company in both cities.
