MARISCOS LA JABITA Eda Rodriguez

(318) 742-5595 | 2242 Barksdale Blvd. Bossier City, LA 71112

Eda Rodriguez and her family own a mexican seafood restaurant, a meat market and a bakery in Bossier City, Louisiana. With a passion for life Eda works hard every day with her husband Luis Orozco taking care of four children and three businesses. Being born in Zacatecas, Mexico and growing up in Fort Worth, Texas, Eda had an opportunity to experience authenticity. When she moved here from Fort Worth with her family they found themselves missing some of the stores and restaurants they would frequent. Continuing her father’s dream of being a restaurant and store owner Rodriguez continues her father’s passion.

The restaurant Mariscos La Jabita opened in 2010 and serves seafood like you would enjoy if you were on the beach in Mexico. Offering specialties such as large luscious shrimp cocktail or whole fried tilapia are just a couple of the items Eda grew up on. They also serve traditional Mexican food like enchiladas and fajitas. “It is a great place to truly experience authentic Mexican food”, she said. You will also find delicious pastries and fresh corn flour tortillas that are made by their bakery. The bakery is called Tortilleria y Panaderia El Novillo. They specialize in Mexican pastries and desserts and recently started making wedding cakes. Some of the other desserts are Tres Leches Cake, Jello, Chocoflan and Flan.

The store is called El Novillo and is a Hispanic meat market. There you can find marinated fajita meat, chicken, beef ribs or pork ribs specialty cut to cook on the grill. Eda is especially proud that at their meat market customers can order their meats already marinated—even ground beef for tacos. El Novillo also carries meat for tacos al pastor and pork cracklings made fresh everyday along with regular meats like pork chops, chicken quarters and many others. “This is not just a meat market”, said Eda, “you can also find a variety of Hispanic products, vegetables, cheeses and many other products.

Eda and her family are so pleased with their support from the community. “My favorite part about being a business owner is for people to tell me that they really enjoy visiting our businesses”. Eda wants everyone to know that if you have a good business idea that you should put your idea in motion and work really hard for it to prosper. “Come and enjoy celebrating Cinco De Mayo with us”, Eda said.
