Caddo Parish seeks to recognize and engage an outstanding poet to be named the Poet Laureate for Caddo Parish. The process for selection of the Poet Laureate will be administered by the Shreveport Regional Arts Council.

Poets may apply for the position or may be nominated for the position; either process involves a complete application process that can be found on the following website: shrevearts. org/artists-resources/call-toartists/ Caddo Parish will select a Poet Laureate to serve a twoyear term from April through March 2016. The juror is Ava L. Haymon – the current Louisiana Poet Laureate; she will make three recommendations to the Caddo Parish Commission; the Commission will select the Caddo Parish Laureate to begin service in April, during National Poetry Month. The Caddo Parish Poet Laureate will receive an annual honorarium of $1,000 and may receive compensation for speaking engagements, workshops and other activities requested by the Parish of Caddo and other entities.

All applicants must reside in Caddo Parish and registered on the Northwest Louisiana Artist Directory at www.shrevearts.org registration, resume, artist statement and samples of work must be accepted and listed via the online Northwest Louisiana Artist Directory by midnight March 21.
