Sid Potts to show collection of designers at planned events
With a history in the fine jewelry business, Sid Potts Inc. will present special jewelry events this fall.
According to Potts, the first event will feature the largest collection of ring designers ever presented in Shreveport.
Sid Potts Inc., located at 8535 Business Park Drive off of Fern Avenue will feature a ring and wedding bands event Sept. 21, Sept. 23 and Sept. 24, JudeFrances on Oct. 10-11, Bez Ambar and Sid Potts, Inc. on Oct. 24-26 and Sethi Couture on Nov. 7-8.
Engagement rings, as well as the opportunity to design a ring, will be the highlight of the first event Sept. 25. Participating designers will include Norman Silverman, Saturn Jewels, Erica Courtney and Sid Potts himself.
Having designed for red carpet clients to the bride-to-be, the Sid Potts Collection designer said nothing is too small or too difficult to create one-of-a kind jewelry.
“Our focus is satisfying each customer,” Potts said. “Our business comes from all over the country, but the majority is from right here in the Shreveport-Bossier area,” Potts said.
That being the case, Sid Potts believes in giving back to the community that has been so good to his business and does that with an array of generous philanthropic efforts.
“Our business revolves around gift giving occasions including birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas,” Potts said.
Weddings are, of course, an important focus of the business as the first event demonstrates.
Of the designers presented, Norman Silverman established in 1983 is known for a selection of large and rare white diamonds, as well as yellows, pinks and blue diamonds. This designer is synonymous with some of the finest diamonds in the world.
Joseph and David Azizi, co-founders of Saturn Jewels, said they have created a line of vintage bridal jewelry that blends designs of the Edwardian and Art Deco periods with the fresh new spirit and visions of today.
“It’s interesting,” Joseph said, “Retailers tell us that couples often come into their stores because they carry a certain brand.
After trying on a few pieces, they ask to see one of our sets. It is generally because our designs look so different, so ‘romantic and feminine.’ It’s at that point that wearing a major brand becomes less important and the intrinsic appeal of our designs takes over.”
“We sell wearable art – lifelong treasures that people connect with – that will become the heirlooms of tomorrow.”
Joseph said he personally inspects every single piece before it leaves their premises. “Since every ring is manufactured in our plant, right here in New York, no piece ever leaves until I say it does.”
Also showing an event is Greg Kevorkian, a jewelry designer and manufacturer with 32 years of experience in the jewelry industry along with creating merchandise for nationally-known designer jewelry. Kevorkian said platinum continues to be the metal of choice for consumers because of the feel of the metal as well as the value.
“In today’s world, like everything else, it is changing just as fast in the jewelry industry with new technology,” Kevorkian said.
Private appointments will be available with most designers during the event. Sid Potts Inc. can be reached for appointments and more information at 797-2929.
