Engagement Party: An engagement party for Jonathan Love and Laura Benscoter was held July 13. The couple will be married Jan. 4 at St. John Berchman’s Cathedral. Laura is the daughter of David and Wendy Benscoter of Shreveport, and Jonathan is the son of Margaret Nader Love of Shreveport. The party was at the home of Dr. Kevin and Carla Marler.

ThinkFirst: ThinkFirst of the Ark-La-Tex hosted its seventh annual Draw Down on Aug. 8 at East Ridge Country Club. Ticket holders had a chance to win a $5,000 cash prize. The Draw Down is a reverse raffle. Throughout the night, names of those entered were drawn and eliminated. When there were five tickets remaining, the finalists had the opportunity to split the prize or continue to draw down to one finalist. Auction items included stained glass windows with LSU and Louisiana Tech themes, jewelry and artwork.

FLW Cup: The owner of Bayou Outdoor Supercenter hosted the Forrest Wood Cup dinner in honor of the owner and founder of Ranger Boats, Forrest Wood, who also hosted the FLW fishing tournament held Aug. 15-18. The dinner was held Aug. 16 inside and around the pool of the Dixie Garden home of Larry and Barbara Brazzel. Barbecue was served, and a band played.
