The Shreveport Regional Arts Council will receive $150,000 through the Our Town program from the National Endowment for the Arts to support UNSCENE!, a series of monthly interdisciplinary arts events in and around Shreveport Common.

The NEA supports creative placemaking projects that help transform communities into lively, beautiful and sustainable places with the arts at their core. The grantee projects will encourage creative activity, create community identity and a sense of place, and help revitalize local economies.

Shreveport Regional Arts Council will advance the launch of the nineblock Shreveport Common area through the production of UNSCENE! an UNprecedented, UNexpected, UNabashed UN-festival that takes place each month October 2013 through September 2014.

The NEA received 254 applications for Our Town this year. Grant amounts ranged from $25,000 to $200,000 with a median grant amount of $50,000. The Shreveport Regional Arts Council received $150,000.
