Harrah’s Louisiana Downs hosted the 2013 Media Racing Luncheon on May 2 in the Louisiana Downs Sky Room. This year marks the 40th year of live thoroughbred racing at the track and officials have special events planned all season long. One of the first special events they hosted was the Mother’s Day Diamond Dig, where mothers shoveled through dirt in search of a diamond ring worth $1,700. Live racing culminates this season with the running of the Super Derby on Sept. 7.
