Willis-Knighton Health System has installed Shreveport’s first digital broadband magnetic resonance imaging system, the Ingenia 3.0T, as well as the latestgeneration in open MR systems, the Panorama High Field Open, both from Philips Healthcare, at the WK Imaging & Technology Center. The center is located inside the WK Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Center at 7925 Youree Dr. in Shreveport. The Ingenia 3.0T is designed to quickly perform high-quality MR scans with a high level of patient comfort. This revolutionary machine has a wide opening to accommodate patients of varying size, age, and physical condition. This makes Ingenia less confining than 60cm MR systems and a more attractive noninvasive imaging option for patients at Willis-Knighton. In fact, most scans can be performed with the patient’s head entirely out of the opening, creating a better patient experience. The Ingenia 3.0T incorporates a number of breakthrough technologies designed to deliver exceptional image clarity. It quickly provides radiologists and physicians with precise, detailed MR images needed to help confidently diagnose many different anatomical and structural problems in the body, including brain and nervous system disorders, skeletal muscle disorders and organ disease. It also features a completely open design that makes getting an MR scan more positive. Many patients, due to their size or feelings of claustrophobia, prefer open MR systems. See also
