Hats off to all the dads in this world! A good father may be one of the most unsung, unpraised and unnoticed, yet one of the most valuable strengths and benefits for our kids and our society. Derby Day Style fest at Norton
What has become a top spring event, this annual garden party celebrating the Kentucky Derby, brings out the color in hats and attire. Guests danced to live entertainment, sipped mimosas and enjoyed quail and grits among other delightful offerings. A perfect spring day under the pines, a gentle breeze kept the ladies’ hats aflutter.

SciPort DNA Society party
The beautiful home of Cole and Sarah Anderson played host to SciPort Discovery Center’s annual DNA Society Party on April 18. The party is in appreciation of the many donors that help fund SciPort’s programs. More than 150 people attended. SciPort recently opened a new children’s museum inside their existing building.

Cotillion Grand entrances
The historic Shreveport Municipal Auditorium hosted the 69th Holiday in Dixie Cotillion on April 21. King Rex LXIX is Bill Broyles, and Queen this year is Emily Paige Nelson. The theme was “A Fairytale Journey Through the Black Forest,” and entertainment was provided by The Party Machine Band of Dallas.

Wine Country Wine and Swine sips and spills
Wine Country Bistro’s legendary wine festival, Wine and Swine, hosted the ninth gathering in their new location on Line Avenue in South Highlands. Even with larger restaurant space, the festivities spilled out into the parking lot, where Easy Money provided the musical entertainment for the hundreds of guests attending.

Plantation Ball Sons and daughters feted
Eighteen daughters and sons were presented this year. Jeff Lynn served as ball chairman. Those presented represented farms in several parishes and some in Texas, Arkansas and Iowa.
