The 65th annual Plantation Ball kept to its tradition of a formal presentation: The Virginia Reel and an old-fashioned plantation breakfast. It was held on April 28 at the Scottish Rite Temple.

Eighteen daughters and sons were presented this year. Jeff Lynn served as ball chairman. Those presented represented farms in several parishes and some in Texas, Arkansas and Iowa. Crops include cotton, corn, pecans, soybeans, sorghum, hay, wheat, milo, sweet potatoes, watermelon, tomatoes, rice, crawfish and corn as well as cattle, minerals, timber, family recreation and wildlife management. One property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Teddy Roosevelt hunted on another of the properties. One of the lands was donated for a church and also serves as a resting place for four generations. Another was the first dairy operation in Louisiana.
