Hundreds gather to celebrate Kentucky Derby Under the shade of pine trees on the front lawn of the R.W. Norton Art Gallery in historic South Highlands, the inaugural Shreveport Derby Day Festival was hosted May 2. More than 600 people donned their seersucker suits and clever fascinators for likely the grandest celebration of the Kentucky Derby Shreveport has ever seen. Mint juleps were served by Wine Country Bistro & Bottle Shop, and Rhino Coffee provided the mid-afternoon snacks. There were seven large television screens that displayed the race, which meant everyone could see if their horse was the winner. Flow Tribe, from New Orleans, provided the musical entertainment. –Mark Crawford [ SCENE STEALERS ] 1. Amanda Brown, Concetta King 2. Raymond and Ellen Alley 3. Jane Ryder, John Pickens 4.
