Women’s Health Associates

Women’s Health Associates, located inside the Willis- Knighton Bossier Health Center, believe that the combination of science and human issues is the core of women’s healthcare. They provide well-women exams, routine obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy management and consultation, preconception counseling and planning. Dr.’s Glenda Johnson, K. Leslie Dean and Gina Gomez have been providing healthcare to women for a combined 33 years and are the only female OB/GYN providers in Bossier City. Dr. Glenda Johnson Johnson has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology in Shreveport/Bossier area since 2003. Her interests include office procedures such as office sterilization, ablation and laser procedures.

She has continued to advance her gynecologic surgical training and is skilled in minimally invasive hysterectomies and other laparoscopic procedures, which significantly reduce a patient’s recovery time. Johnson cares for both low and high risk pregnancies, offering ultrasound and office fetal testing.

Originally from Minden, Johnson graduated from LSU School of Medicine in 1998 and she completed her OB/GYN Residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2002. Johnson is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Diplomat of the American Board of OB/GYN.

She is a member of Shreveport Medical Society and Louisiana State Medical Society.

“I like caring for women from their teens through adulthood,” she said. “It is a pleasure to care for patients during their pregnancies, assist in their well-being, and to help them through surgeries and hospitalizations when needed.”

Johnson is married to Dr. Chris Kevil, a professor at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport. They have two children, Ben and Claire. In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family and friends and travel. Dr. K. Leslie Dean Dr. K. Leslie Dean is board certified in obstetrics/gynecology by the American Board of OB/GYN and has been in private practice in Shreveport- Bossier City since 2001. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and member of the Louisiana State Medical Society and Shreveport Medical Society. Dean graduated with a degree in biological sciences from Goucher College in Maryland; then after caring for her three children, she returned to school and graduated from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport. She completed her residency training in the OB/GYN there, finishing as chief resident.

By continually updating surgical care, Dean offers minimally invasive hysterectomy, including robotic hysterectomy (one of the first in the area) and other advanced laparoscopic and laser procedures.

Her other interests include general and high-risk obstetrics, in office ultrasound and fetal monitoring, and gynecologic services ranging from the age of adolescence through menopause. “The delivery of healthcare to the people in our country is changing dramatically at this time. Providing patient-centered health care to women of all ages in Northwest Louisiana continues to be my top priority in my OB/GYN practice,” she said. “I enjoy caring for several generations within a family - mothers, daughters and granddaughters.”

In her spare time, Dr. Dean enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling and reading. Dr. Gina Gomez Born and raised in Thibodaux, Gomez has been a member of the Shreveport Bossier Community for nearly 15 years, and earned both her medical doctorate degree and received her training in obstetrics and gynecology at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.

During her training she was honored with several awards, one of which acknowledged her thorough and compassionate gynecological care.

Gomez is a board certified in obstetrics/ gynecology by the American Board of OB/GYN. She is a member of the Louisiana State Medical Society as well as the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Always striving to provide her patients with advanced gynecological care, she was one of the first physicians in the area to train with the da Vinci system and provide her patients with minimally invasive robotic surgery.

“I was drawn to this area of medicine because of the balance of both clinical and surgical medicine. It is one of the few specialties that allows me to follow a patient through the many changes that occur in a females life,” she said. I am able to be a part of a young girls first steps into adulthood, the joy of becoming a mother, and the sometimes difficult transition into menopause.

Gomez said her biggest influence on her life is her mother.

“My background is a unique mix – my father is from Columbia and my mother is from Costa Rica. I can thank my mother for teaching me about hard work and dedication.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Dr. Gomez is happily married to her husband Stacy. They have two children.
