The Salvation Army’s purse auction promotes purpose

For the second year, The Salvation Army of Shreveport Women’s Auxiliary will auction off designer purses at 11 a.m. Sept. 27 in the gym inside The Salvation Army of Shreveport located at 200 E. Stoner St.

LaKesha Mosley, development and public information director for The Salvation Army, said last year, the nonprofit raised over $4,500 from proceeds from the purse auction. The Women’s Auxiliary was able to purchase game room activities for the Senior Citizen’s Day program, sponsor 20 mothers and daughters for a Tea at The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club and purchase new tables and chairs for the shelter and community center.

Mosley said these purses are mostly designer handbags that are a good quality. The live and silent auctions will showcase the most valuable and coveted bags, which may be paired with other exciting items like travel packages, gift cards or jewelry. Prices for the purses range from $5 and above.
