Fresh New Face For Shreveport/Bossier Malls

As a preteen and teenager, there was nothing cooler than being dropped off at the mall with your friends. Shopping, food, entertainment – the mall had it all. And it had a safe, family-friendly atmosphere that made parents feel comfortable letting the reigns loose.

Rouse Properties is bringing that mall experience back to the Shreveport- Bossier area in a big way. In renovating Pierre Bossier Mall and Mall St. Vincent, Rouse offers new shopping and dining experiences in a family-centric environment.

Both Mall St. Vincent and Pierre Bossier Mall have been staples of the Shreveport-Bossier community for decades. Established in 1976 and 1982, respectively, both malls served as important landmarks for both residents and out of town visitors.

Rouse began their work with Pierre Bossier Mall, completing the multi-million dollar renovation in 2012. This major facelift included new interior flooring throughout the common areas and food court, fresh paint on all walls, columns and ceilings and fresh carpeting in many areas. Rouse made a concerted effort to create a welcoming environment, adding soft seating, free WiFi access and a fun children’s play area. The exterior also received a makeover, with enhanced entrances and new signage.

These updates have already been met with great success; Missy Heanue, Director of Marketing for Rouse Properties says, “This renovation has helped to re-energize Pierre Bossier Mall and make it more relevant within the marketplace.”

That relevance is evidenced by the leases being signed for exciting new stores and restaurants, including Forever 21’s 35,000 square foot flagship store and Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill. This will mark Forever 21’s first Northwest Louisiana location, and Louisiana’s first ever Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill.

In the summer of 2013, Rouse Properties commenced an extensive cosmetic renovation on Mall St. Vincent, with the goal to reposition it as one of the leading retail and dining destinations in the greater Northwest Louisiana marketplace.

Rouse promises an allencompassing interior makeover along with a modern transformation of the mall’s exterior. The exterior is planned to be a new and engaging streetscape that will feature flagship restaurants with outdoor patios interwoven with innovative retailer concepts. Highlights of the projects include the creation of two forty-five foot high glass cube enclosures at each of the main entrances, a renovated center court and a turtle pond. There will be numerous new features including new flooring, improved lighting, soft seating areas, and free Wifi available. Rouse Properties anticipates the renovation of Mall St. Vincent to be completed in the spring of this year, and as Heanue says, ”We’re excited for families in the area to experience a new and improved mall experience.”
