Kathi has been employed by the Military Affairs Council for almost 6 years. As the Executive director, she manages dayto-day operations, formulates comprehensive financial budgets/spend plan for nonprofit organization ensuring compliance with all tax rules/requirements. She also plans, schedules and coordinates four major social events each year, makes presentations at formal events, both military and civilian, on behalf of the board of directors.

Kathi recently retired from the Air Force at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant after a career spanning over 30 years. During that time, she was a communications professional with military assignments including MacDill AFB, Florida, Spangdahlem AB, Germany, England AFB, Louisiana, Hill AFB, Utah, RAF Bentwaters, United Kingdom, Kunsan AB, Korea, Tyndall AFB, Florida, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana and Maxwell AFB, Alabama. She also deployed to Korea for Team Spirit and Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operations Iraqi Freedom.

Kathi attended the Community College of the Air Force, St. Leo’s College and received a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies and a Master’s Degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University.

Some of her community involvements have included membership in the Krewe de Les Femmes Mystique, Air Force Communications and Electronics Agency, Air Force Sergeants Associations, Noncommissioned Officers Association and a volunteer for Shreveport- Bossier Community Renewal, Paint Your Heart Out and Habitat for Humanity. She also raised money and participated in Alzheimer Walk, Cystic Fibrosis Walk and the Susan B. Komen Walk.

Kathi is married to Robert Smith, a retired Air Force Veteran and Security Officer for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law and two grandsons.
