USDEC’s Tom Suber Is Keynote Speaker

Sun Valley, ID—The agenda for this year’s Idaho Milk Producers Association’s (IMPA), to be held here Aug. 11-12 at the Sun Valley Lodge, has been announced.

The two-day meeting kicks off Thursday morning with registration and opening remarks from IMPA president Kent Giddings of Idaho Milk Products, Inc.

Tom Suber, president of the US Dairy Export Council (USDEC), will deliver the keynote address, followed by author and motivational speaker Ross Bernstein on “The Champion’s Code.”

The ninth annual IMPA Dairy Product Development Competition will take place after lunch, with food science students from the University of Idaho, Washington State University, Utah State University and Brigham Young University competing for the $10,000 grand prize and bragging rights for the best new dairy product.

Thursday will conclude with a wine and cheese social, and auction of winning cheeses from the IMPA Cheese Competition.

Friday begins with a continental breakfast and IMPA business meeting, followed by a company profile presentation on Chobani and the annual IMPA Hall of Fame presentation.

The afternoon will be dedicated to activities including white water rafting, hiking, fishing, golfing and trap shooting.

The traditional, four-person scramble golf tournament will take place at 1:30 p.m. at the Sun Valley Golf Course Friday. The group will be divided into two flights, and there will be trophies awarded for both gross and net. The tournament fee this year is $200 per golfer.

The annual trap-shooting tournament will include lunch with trap beginning promptly at 1:30.

Entries are limited to 25 people shooting trap and 16 people shooting sporting clays, accepted on a first come first serve sign-up basis.

The fishing excursion will take place along the East Fork of the Big Wood River and the Main Wood River. The white-water rafting trip on the Salmon River is $100 per person and includes lunch, rafting, guides, and guide gratuities.

The hiking excursion is free, and includes both an advanced hike and relaxed hike.

The deadline to register for the meeting is July 27. Cost to attend is $325 for IMPA members, $425 for non-members, $200 for guests, and $200 for members of academia.
