Art in the Garden Saturday, June 27 8am-7:30pm Lincoln Memorial Garden 2301 E. Lake Dr. 529-1111 www.lmgnc.org Free Lincoln Memorial Garden’s landscape and wildlife are captured in paint and film by juried artists for the garden’s first ever art auction and artist-at-work viewing Saturday. Stroll the full-of-life trails and seize a glimpse of artists’ techniques and interpretations as they fill their canvases with strokes and color.
Families are invited at 1 p.m. to gather at the Nature Center to create art of their own using materials from nature. While the installation art is temporary, a photo souvenir will be given to take home. The day concludes with a reception at 5 p.m. for artists, such as George King whose pastel, Rowdy Rudbeckias (seen above), took best of show. Then, a live auction of the artwork crafted during the day takes place, in addition to the close of the silent auction of the juried art that can be seen and anonymously bid on at the garden’s Web site. The silent auction pieces will be on display at various Springfield locations until Tuesday.
