Take a stroll through Oak Ridge Cemetery during the sixth annual Tree Tour on Oct. 26. Learn about 19 majestic trees, some dating from 1862, others only 10-15 years old, including unique specimens grafted by Guy Sternberg. The oldest Osage orange tree in Springfield is the star tree and other specimens include ash, maple, oak and sycamore. An interpreter will be stationed at each tree to provide information, and each tree has a QR code, accessible with a cell phone. Allow at least an hour to complete the self-guided tour and enjoy music from the dulcimer group Wildwood. Follow signs for parking. Most trees will be located near the entrance on J. David Jones Parkway and maps are available. The Tree tour is sponsored by Oak Ridge Cemetery Foundation along with the City of Springfield, Oak Ridge Cemetery, Starhill Forest Arboretum and Sue and Kent Massie. See also
