Written and composed by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star is set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina in the 1920s and 40s. Inspired by the Iron Mountain Baby, William Moses Gould Helms, it tells a tale of love and redemption. When literary editor Alice Murphy meets a young soldier just home from World War II, it awakens her longing for the child she once lost. Alice sets out on a journey to understand her past, discovering that life is indeed about stories – those we tell and those we don’t. The musical is directed and choreographed by Chaz Wolcott and produced by Scott Richardson. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the day of the show. Seniors and children 12 and under are $23 on Thursdays with an advance ticket. atthelegacy.com.
