Illinois Realtors is sponsoring walking tours of buildings of architectural interest in the historic district of downtown Springfield. This week, join Anthony Rubano from the Historic Preservation Division of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as he guides a tour through the area of the Old Capitol Plaza and Sixth Street. See and hear about the unique architectural designs, histories and stories of such places as Tinsley Dry Goods, Maldaner’s Restaurant, the Booth and Ferguson buildings, Firestone Complete Auto Care and the Hoogland Center for the Arts. The tour will end with a reception highlighting the SAA Collective. To attend, meet the tour group at the Lincoln family statue on the southeast corner of the Old State Capitol Plaza at 5:30 p.m. It is free and will last 1 1/2 hours. The final two walking tours of the season are scheduled for Sept. 4 and Oct. 2. Free.
